Big News: Islamabad Police Extend Driving License Deadline for Citizens 2025

Islamabad Police have announced an extension in the deadline for obtaining driving licenses, giving citizens an additional week. The new deadline is now October 7, 2025, instead of the earlier cut-off of October 1.
The decision was taken on the instructions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, who directed authorities to provide maximum relief to residents facing long queues and delays at facilitation centers.
According to the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP), a strict crackdown will begin on October 18 against those driving without valid licenses. Violators will face arrest, vehicle impoundment, and legal action. In addition, those caught without a license will not be eligible for a police character certificate until they obtain one.
Extra Time to Facilitate Citizens
Over the past few weeks, a large number of citizens rushed to traffic centers to get licenses, causing pressure on the system. To deal with this, the ITP extended working hours at facilitation centers and also deployed mobile licensing vans in different areas of the capital.
Officials said the extension till October 7 should be taken seriously, as no further relief will be given before the crackdown starts.
Road Safety the Main Focus
Authorities stressed that the move is not just about penalties but about promoting road safety and discouraging unlicensed driving, which often leads to accidents in the capital. By ensuring that more people obtain valid licenses, the ITP aims to improve compliance with traffic laws.
