Islamabad Traffic Police Office at Faizabad to Remain Open 24 Hours – Latest Update 2025

Islamabad: In a landmark move to ease public access, the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has announced that the Faizabad Traffic Police Office will now remain open 24 hours a day for citizens seeking driving licenses and related services.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi revealed the decision after a late-night review meeting on public service delivery. He directed senior officials to improve facilities, reduce delays, and make traffic services more accessible for all residents of the capital.

Extended Timings at Khidmat Markaz

Alongside the 24/7 operation at Faizabad, timings at Police Khidmat Markaz centres across Islamabad have also been extended. These centres, previously closing at 6 PM, will now stay open until 9 PM. Currently, there are 11 Khidmat Markaz in Islamabad, offering driving license issuance, renewal, duplicate licenses, and traffic challan payments.

The IGP stated that in the coming months, traffic-related services would be gradually expanded to all police stations, ensuring wider coverage and easier access for residents in every sector of Islamabad.

Strict Action from October 1

Authorities have also issued a stern warning regarding unlicensed driving. From October 1, driving without a valid license will lead to strict penalties including:

  • Arrest of unlicensed drivers
  • Vehicle impoundment in case of repeated violations

Public awareness campaigns have already been launched by the ITP to inform residents about the deadline. The IGP urged citizens to complete their license applications before the date to avoid inconvenience.

Facilities for Citizens

To manage the growing demand, additional service counters are being set up at Faizabad and other Khidmat Markaz. Officials believe this will significantly reduce waiting times and allow more citizens to process their applications smoothly. The round-the-clock operation at Faizabad especially benefits students, night-shift workers, and others who cannot visit during normal office hours.

A Step Towards Better Service

The 24-hour opening of the Faizabad Traffic Police Office is being welcomed as a citizen-friendly initiative. It provides much-needed flexibility and is expected to make Islamabad’s traffic system more organized. By combining convenience with strict enforcement, the new measures aim to improve road safety and reduce the number of unlicensed drivers on the city’s roads.
